Born 12 December 1951 in the family of an army officer; graduated (1973) with specialisation in History; obtained her post-graduation and doctoral degrees from Moscow Univeristy

Started her career in the Kyrghyz University in 1977. In 1992, she moved to the Bishkek Humanities University and became its Rector in October 1994

Has to her credit more than 63 publications in various journals

Married, with two daughters

* According to the Embassy of India in Bishkek, the post of Rector in Kyrghyzstan is equivalent to that of Vice- Chancellor of a University in India
