Born 22 April, 1928; graduated (1952) from the Department of Philosophy, Moscow State University; worked for the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda and the Press Agency Novosti; was the representative (1961-64) of Novosti in India.

1980- till date : works at the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences (INION) as the Editor-in-Chief of a monthly bulletin Russia and the muslim world.
